Five Areas; Six Skills and Six Affirmations

J2A prepares youth for adulthood by making their spiritual selves continuous with their ordinary everyday person. An open, questioning faith is not just something - its everything. Bringing life and faith all together means learning essential life skills in the context of the Bible, God and the life of Jesus Christ.

To become a fully functioning Christian adult is to fill out five overlapping areas of human development: self, society, spirituality, sexuality and prayer.

Our lessons build six skills that are necessary to live a whole Christian life. These are:

  • Active Listening
  • Negotiation
  • Research and Information Management
  • Partnership
  • Leadership.
Developing these six skills leads to confidence contained in these six affirmations:

  • I know how to listen to myself and to others.
  • I work to my strengths. I can recognize strength in others, and will help them to work to theirs.
  • I make a difference. I have something of value to contribute. I know how to serve.
  • I actively build relationships. Community is one key to a successful life.
  • I recognize there are four steps to a task: the need, the plan, the process and the result.
  • I practice compassion, celebration and the mystery of life.
