Recent Lessons

Wow, time flies! It seems like a blink and three weeks have gone by. Here is a recap of the lessons from November 15 and November 22.

On the 15th, Toni and Randy led the lesson on "Faith - Let Your Doubt Sprout". I haven't been able to get Toni to sit down and write about it but the session was well attended and word on the street was that there was a good discussion. A couple of weeks before this lesson, Joanne covered the basics of faith and this lesson built on that understanding. The idea was to develop faith as a 'process' (rather than an end point) that has its ups and downs, growing and shrinking. Doubt is a healthy ingredient to a growing faith. Joanne was in the kitchen and she served up some awesome fried chicken and macaroni salad.

On the 22nd, Chris and Betsy conducted a kind of workshop on decision making resources. To get in the mood, we started with "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost. Three youth teams took on Mr. Frost to discern just what he meant when he wrote. They went off into a corner of the undercroft and came back to share their thoughts. We continued with a decision making exercise that allowed each youth to conisder various decision making scenarios and write down how they would handle the problem. Some of the decisions we considered were simple and some were downright impossible. We finished by going over a number of resources that we have at our disposal when we have to make a choice. One of these resources is faith and the faith community. This lesson will be continued on December 6th when we will look closer at decision resources and particularly what being a Christian means when it comes to making choices. Lunch today was left-over baked ziti (courtesy of Mike Conroy's work for our Rite 13 dinner on Nov. 7). Toni thawed and re-heated; added salad, sauce and drink and voila!.... lunch for J2A.
